IMDB rating: 8.80 Plot: In a distant galaxy eons before the creation of the mythical planet known as Earth, vast civilizations have evolved, and ruling the galaxy is an interstellar Empire created from the ruins of an Old Republic that held sway for generations. It is a time of civil war, as solar systems have broken away from the Empire and are waging a war of rebellion. During a recent battle techical schematics for a gigantic space station, code named The Death Star, have been unearthed by Rebel spies, and a young woman who is a dissident member of the Imperial Senate, under the cover of a diplomatic mission to the planet Alderaan, is trying to smuggle these plans to the Rebellion. But her spacecraft is attacked by a vast warship of the Empire and seized. The dissident Senator is captured, but the plans for the Death Star are nowhere to be found. While soldiers of the Empire search the nearby planet Tatooine, a series of incidents sweeps up a young desert farmer with dreams of being a fighter pilot in the Rebellion, as he winds up with the Death Star plans and also the assistance of an elderly hermit who once served as a warrior of an ancient order whose chosen weapons were powerful energy swords known as light sabers. The pair recruit a cynical interstellar smuggler and his outsized alien copilot with an ancient freighter heavily modified for combat to help them reach Alderaan – but the planet is obliterated and now the foursome must rescue the young woman held prisoner by the Empire and lead an attack by the Rebellion against the Death Star before it can annihilate all hope of restoring freedom to the galaxy. |

6. Darth Vader’s own belief in the strength of his power of the force distracts him and a wounded tie fighter beside him hits his own tie-fighter and sends him out of control and away from the battle with a damage flight capability.
Star wars the new hope was the perfect blend of story and effects…New groundbreaking effects Blue screen (created by Lucas’s team) which would be the state of art of effects until Lucas developed and perfected CGI through Industrial light and magic.
A movie with classic themes of heroes and villains with highly memorable Dialogue. A box office in adjusted dollars to still be the highest grossing film of all time.

3. Vader and company are trying to get the location of the rebel base from princess leia
4. They get in by posing as stormtroopers that are taking chewie to his cell, and the get out through the grabage dump.
5. because Han Solo shoots vaders ship at the last second
6. because it includes conflict, love, suspense, and good action, not to mention it kicks ass

Han dumped a load of contraband when he was boarded to avoid being arrested. Jabba wanted the value of that lost cargo. Rather like a drug runner dumping a load of cocaine out the window when being chased by the cop and the dealer wanting his money back.
Why is Alderaan destroyed?
AS a symbol that the Death Star was operational, and for General Tarkin to be cruel to Leia.
How do Luke, Han, and Chewie get in and out of the detention block?
They get in partly by pretending to be Stormtroopers escorting a prisoner (Chewbacca) to the cells, then blast their way in when their identity is questioned. Then they get out when Leia blasts a hole in the wall, end up in a trash compactor, which almost squishes them, and R2D2 gets them out.
Why doesn’t Vader blast Luke as he chases him on the bombing run?
Vader had a "feeling" via the Force that he shouldn’t kill this particular pilot. He knew he was special, but nothing more. (Vader doesn’t know Luke’s identity until after Luke becomes famous as the one who destroyed the Death Star. The name is rather obvious.) Before Vader could decide to shoot or not his ship is damaged when Han Solo arrives to "save the day."

It is the father of modern sci-fi because it was the first sci-fi movie thought to be "serious" and opened the market for more sci-fi movies.

b/c he had to dump cargo he was smuggling for jabba b/c the empire was trying to board his ship
b/c it was the home planet of Leia and to show power of the death star
he tried to but han shoots one of the other imperial ships that clips vaders ship and cause him to spin out away from the death star

Because it pushed the envelope on Sci-Fi back in the late 70’s. The film had a realistic look to it because you couldn’t really see any visual signs that everything was a miniature or held up with wires, it helped immerse people into the story.

First off, The Empire threatens to destroy Alderaan in order to get Leia to tell them where there is a Rebel base (which is on Tatooine) She divulges the information in which case Alderaan gets blown up anyway. The gift is a Lightsaber. And jabba wants money from Han to pay for a shipment of spice fom kessel that he was supposed to smuggle but had to drop it when an imperial search team boarded the millenium falcon.
